There are 14 national parks in Sri Lanka. The only one in which you are allowed to walk is Hortons Plains Park, this is the only park situated in the up country.
Flood Pains and Lahugala Kitulana parks are not open for visitors.
The other parks are located in the dry zone and close to the sea, 12 of these are open to visitors, these are,
Udawalawe, Wilpattu, Wasgomuwa, Minneriya, Maduru Oya, Gal Oya, Bundala, Somawathiya Chaitiya, Ruhuna (Yala national park), Yala East, and Lunugamvehera.
These can be visited but are in four wheel drive vehicles accompanied by a wild life officer. You are allowed to leave the vehicle, but only in specified locations.
We can arrange for all the necessary transport and assistance for anyone who would like to take a safari tour in the parks. We can arrange accommodation close to the national parks, or for camping inside the park, we can arrange all the equipment and qualified staff to support your requirements, including a qualified naturalist.
